Inspection Question Examples

The following provides some examples of common Inspection Question uses. It does not provide an example for all types.

Example 1 - Yes/ No

Here's the configuration for the Inspection Question as maintained in BlueWorx admin. In this case the user will being asked to confirm that they have undertaken a vital step in the servicing of the unit:

And here's the inspection questions as presented to the BlueWorx user:

Example 2 - Condition Grading

Here's the configuration for the Inspection Question as maintained in BlueWorx admin. In this case the user will be asked to record their assessment of the condition of the unit.

In this case the Question is referencing an Answer Group to determine the allowed values. The values are 1 through 5:

  • If the user selects condition 4 then BlueWorx will insist that they add some comments to their response and will silently create a Notification SAP on processing
  • If the user selects condition 5 then BlueWorx will insist that they create a full Notification on the device

And here's the inspection questions as presented to the BlueWorx user:

Example 3 - Measurement Document Creation

Here's the configuration for the Inspection Question as maintained in BlueWorx admin. In this case the user will be asked to record the run hours of the unit. On processing in SAP a Measurement Document will be created for the Equipment:

And here's the inspection questions as presented to the BlueWorx user. Note that the previous reading has been taken from the last Measurement Document:

Example 4 - Measurement Point Code Only

This inspection question type can be used to capture a Measurement Point code where the Code is sufficient:

Example 5 - Multiple Answers

This inspection question type can be used to capture a list of values. No SAP transactional processing action can be taken as a result of this question type. An example of its use would be to record the tread depth of each tyre of a vehicle:

Example 6 - Signature

This inspection question type can be used to capture a signature image along with a name and position. For example recording the consent of a building owner to enter their property:

Example 7 - Characteristic Update with Multiple values

This Inspection Question allows for multiple-selection of SAP maintained classification values. Below is the configuration for the Inspection Question as maintained in Admin. Note that the Response type Multi values numeric should be used for a numeric type characteristic.

This is how the inspection question is presented in the app:

Example 8 - Date Value

This Inspection Question allows for the entry of a date value that's going to update a classification characteristic value. The date value has been restricted so that a future date can't be used:

Example 9 - Equipment Technical ID

In this example, the response will update the Technical ID field in SAP for the Technical Object (FL or Equipment).

Example 10 - Classification Condition Grading

In this example the response will update a characteristic value based upon allowed Characteristic configuration values in SAP:

Where the user selects Poor they will have to enter notes in the Inspection Question Response which will be processed in SAP as a Notification and using the Template specified:

Example 11 - Record and Event but no SAP Transaction or Master Data Update

In this example the response does not create a transaction or master data update in SAP but it is retained in the BlueWorx tables and an enduring record that the operator responded to a given question.

This inspection uses an Answer Group to provide the option or two responses (Pass or Fail):

Where the user selects FAIL then they will have to enter notes in the Inspection Question Response which will be processed in SAP as a Notification and using the Template specified:

Example 12 - Multiple Inspection Answers

This is a special use of the question to gather points that will each create notifications. Each question will have a start and end point Geo location and Counter - an odometer or pedometer for example. Each response will create a notification in SAP on processing. You can use this type of inspection question to gather maintenance points on a linear asset (line, pipe, road or track).

Note that to some degree this type of Inspection response has been supplanted by the ability to capture geo locations, annotations, and actions.
