GEO Capture - Value-Based Rendering

Value-based rendering is specific to a Functional Location or Equipment location. It allows users to record the position of the asset-based on it being a point, linear or polygon and change how it's rendered on the map based on some information about the asset based on its SAP status or Classification value/s.

Notes:
1. For classification values, the current solution does not cater for characterisics set up in SAP to be multi-select.
2. If you have several values that equate to the same rendering, each must have it's owner rendering record. i.e. you can not enter multiple values to evaluate in the Edit Rendering screen

Example

In this example, the scenario is a walking Track that can be Open or Closed for use. The same scenario can apply to other linear assets like Railway Tracks or Roads, or to Point assets to show a different icon signaling that they are open or closed, on or off, etc.

Administration

Setting Up the Layer

In the BlueWorx Administration application, we create a new layer type. We:

  • Give it an ID and Description
  • Assign it the Function of Location (see above for other options)
  • Assign it the Feature Type of Line (see above for other options)
  • Set it to be visible on the map from zoom levels 11 down to 23
  • Associate it with the Track Object Type
  • Switch on value-based Rendering
  • Add Classification Characteristic (can be up to three or alternatively you can use the SAP Status for the object)

And then in the value-based rendering setting for an 'Open' and 'Closed' state:

Rendering details for Open - Magenta color and a thin line:

Rendering details for Closed - Red color and a thicker line:

Operational Use

This is the Equipment records classification value, the value is showing Closed:

And here is the resulting map in BlueWorx when the track is closed - it renders as red:

Change the SAP FL Classification value to Open (which could be via a BlueWorx Inspection):

Sync BlueWorx with SAP:

And here is the resulting map in BlueWorx. The color has gone from red to pink and the line is thinner:
