Introduction

This page is used to create and maintain details on an Inspection Template.

Important Information

Aspects of this page, primarily the rich text editors, are dependent on SAPUI5 releases. The releases are maintained in a Neptune Software SAP table and must correspond to a SAP published release which SAP periodically change. If you have issues with the rich text editor then please see the following article for remediation steps: https://blueworx.freshdesk.com/support/discussions/topics/19000032632

Inspection Tab and Page Functions

The Inspection tab provides summary details for the Inspection:

The following screen fields and controls are defined, where not documented they are considered self explanatory or are explained elsewhere:

Field/ FunctionsFunction
IDThe visible ID of the Inspection.

As of SP11 the technical ID for the record is automatically assigned allowing users to change the visible ID at will
TitleThe Inspection Title
Not Found ActionIf a user can't find the asset they are instructed to inspect then you have the option of:
  1. No Notification
  2. Notification on Device
  3. Notification using Inspection Template (when selected the Inspection Template field is exposed for entry)

Notification TypeSelect Notification Type for User to maintain where No Action Found = option 2 and the user signals that the asset can't be found
Notification Template Select Notification Template to use where No Action Found = option 3 and the user signals that the asset can't be found
Navigation TypeIn response to a question in this inspection, you can control what occurs (note that this setting can also be overwritten at the Question Level).
  • Continue to the next question or; (this would be used where you generally follow an ordered inspection sequence)
  • Exit to Question List (this would be used where you might jump from one question to another not necessarily in sequence)
This functionality was introduced in SP4.
Authorisation GroupSelect the Authorisation Group to control edit rights to the Inspection (where this is enabled in core administration).

When you edit the Authorisation Group then the change dialog also provides the ability to review and amend the Object configuration. This is a requirement because the previous configuration may not have had a Plant value or it or the Technical Object Type might be outside of the allowed values for the newly applied Authorisation Group.

This functionality was introduced in SP11.
Control Reference

Optionally enter a reference to a control authority related to this question. i.e. Safety Control; Industry Control; Engineering Control (or any other reference where this functionality suits.

Whatever values are entered into this field, and in the Inspection Question, are copied into the BlueWorx Inspection Viewers Question response results.

This functionality was introduced in SP11.
Enable AdhocWhere this is switched on, this Inspection will be available to create adhoc (unplanned) inspection for any Functional Location and Equipment - regardless of Inspection Object configuration.

This functionality was introduced in SP11.
Inspection InformationThis long text html field displays information relevant to the overall inspection and which may be relevant to an Inspector to set the scene for the inspection or provide guidance over a variety of test questions. To edit use the 'Edit Inspection Information' button.
For instructions on the use of the editor see HTML Long Text Editor
Edit Inspection Information button

This button is used to maintain the Inspection Information. For more on this topic and recommended usage see Inspection HTML Content and Images

Change Docs buttonReview change documents. For additional details see Change Documents

This functionality was introduced in SP13.
Inspection Viewer buttonThis button launches the Inspection Viewer application and passes the Inspection value. The allows the administrator to see all Completed uses of this Inspection.

This functionality was introduced in SP11.

Question Group Tab

This tab is used to allocation the Groups of Questions for this Inspection and their display order. As of SP11 it also allows you to see the Questions for the Group and what Rules, for this Inspection the Question are influenced or being influenced by. In the following example there is one Question Group containing seven Questions and that one of those Questions is being influenced by the Rule 'RUC'.

The following screen fields and controls are defined, where not documented they are considered self explanatory or are explained elsewhere:

Field/ FunctionDescription/ Usage
Add Group button

This will provide a selection list, with the default filter set to the Inspection Authorisation Group (where used):

Change the order of the Question Group select the Group in the list and use the up/ down buttons to adjust position.

Drag and drop can also be used to change the position of the Groups, but not the order of the Questions nor Question within a Group - as this would impact all uses of the Group and needs to incorporate security, change logging, etc. Changes to the Group needs to be done in the config for the Group.

To delete a Question Group from the Inspection select the Question Group in the list and use the delete icon.

Select List ItemSelect a Question Group or Question List Item to navigate to it's detail page.

Objects Tab

This tab is used to determine when this Inspection will be applied/ available based on. In the following example the screen shows that this Inspection will be matched with Equipment that has a Technical Object Type of FLEET for either PM01 Orders or directly in the Equipment record and that in the case of PM01 Orders the Inspection would be optional.

The following screen fields and controls are defined, where not documented they are considered self explanatory or are explained elsewhere:

Field/ FunctionDescription/ Usage
Add Object buttonAdd a new Object row.
Object Type Functional Location | Equipment.
Plant This setting is for the Maintenance Plant of the FL or Equipment. Read the Further Information link above the list to understand the impact and control over the use of this field.

This functionality was introduced in SP11.
CategoryEquipment or Functional Location Category.
Technical Object TypeThe Plant Maintenance Technical Object type.
Characteristic and Characteristic ValueA SAP Classification Characteristic and Value. Using this functionality you can, for example, have a Technical Object Type of 'power-pole' and use the construction type characteristic value to determine the correct inspection for concrete versus wooden.

Note that these values will only exist for the FL and Equip if the profile allows for them and if the settings is set to take classification values for non Order technical objects. i.e. if you take only classification values for Order Objects (as recommended) then this 'configuration will not work for non Order 'adhoc' inspections as the classification values will not exist on the device.
Object User StatusThe User Status of the Functional / Equipment.

This functionality was introduced in SP13.
Order TypeLeave blank to allow the creation an Adhoc (unplanned) Inspection available from the FL or Equipment object. If blank this will not apply to any Orders.
Operation Standard Text-

Allows the Standard Text Key field of a Work Order Operation to be considered when evaluating template assignment.  Leave blank to ignore the Standard Text Key. Inspections assigned using the Standard Text Key show as Operation Inspections in the BlueWorx application.

To use the Standard Text option the Operation referencing the Standard Text must:

  • Have an Equipment/ FL satisfying the other rules assigned to it OR
  • Have an Equipment/ FL satisfying the other rules at the Order Header Level
Assign UsingThis setting allows for more precise control over what triggers the Inspection. Value options are:
  • Default - Link to all Order Objects (that is those in the Order Header and Objects list effectively the setting prior to SP13)
  • Link to all Order Objects - Excluding Notification Objects (that is those in the Orders Header and Objects list but not those indirectly in the Objects List by virtue of a Notification
  • Link to Operation Technical Object Object i.e. do not reference the Order Header nor, necessarily Objects List, just those directly assigned to an Operation
  • Link to Order Header Object Only - use only the Order Header assets and not others Objects List
This functionality was introduced in SP13.
RequiredSetting this on will require that the user complete this Inspection type or marks it as Asset no found' before they can Complete the Order in BlueWorx. Will have no effect on lines without an Order Type (i.e. Adhoc Inspections)
