Synchronisation (Sync)

Maintain the Sync settings for the BlueWorx application.

Field Settings

The following are the field settings for this tab:

FieldDescription/ Usage Recommendation

Synchronisation (Sync)

Delta SyncTurn on Delta Sync so that only master data changes made since last time are transferred to the device. We strongly recommend is that you activate this in all systems.
Full Sync DaysIf set to zero then periodic full syncs are not triggered. If > zero it forces a full sync every x days.We recommend setting this around every 30-40 days.
Process Inspection on SyncSet ON to process the Inspection results in SAP during the user sync.

When deactivated the Inspection results must be processed using a scheduled batch job. This setting will also process material issues/exchanges during the user sync.
We strongly recommend that you inactivate this in Production or high-volume test scenarios.
Full Sync for Orders and NotificationsOptions are:
  • OFF then delta syncs will occur for Orders and Notifications (after first full sync on any Profile change and then first delta sync thereafter)
  • ON then full syncs for Orders and Notifications will occur
Note that this functionality available from SP10
We strongly recommend is that you set to OFF to allow delta sync of Orders and Notifications in all systems.
Restrict Object Classification DataWhen switched ON the Sync event will only take the profile specified characteristics for the Objects (FL and Equipment) contained in Work Orders on the device.

Note that the classification objects still need to be maintained in a BlueWorx profile.
We recommend switching this ON as this saves on unnecessary mass data from being Synced. Different settings can be maintained for a Web Browser or App.
Restrict Measurement Points Data
When switched ON the Sync event will only take the profile specified measurement points for the Objects (FL and Equipment) contained in Work Orders or Notifications on the device.
We generally recommend switching this ON as this saves on unnecessary mass data from being Synced.

If however if you use Measurement Reading Lists, then suggest you leave this OFF and ensure that your User Profiles cover the required assets to incorporate the required Points.
Sync Prompt Settings
Sync Prompt Timer (min)

Specify the time in minutes where users will be prompted to sync. i.e. a setting of 30 means that if a user doesn't initiate a sync within 30 minutes of their last sync then they will be reminded to do so

Sync Remind Later Times (min)Specify the time in minutes for a sync prompt where is a user gets the sync prompt (above) and elects to be reminded later
Prompt on Mobile NetworkTurn ON to prompt the user to sync, based on settings above, if on a mobile network.
Change Events
Discard Change EventsChange events are used in BlueWorx to look for and add/ change/ delete objects from user profiles when save events occur in SAP. For example IE01, IE02, IL01, IL02. During periods of mass updates, these change events can cause unnecessary load. Switching this setting ON during these periods means that although the SAP change event is triggered the ongoing processing to evaluate and update BlueWorx data is ignored.

If the setting is switched ON for a period, then the administrator should run the following program to refresh the SAP data used by the Sync events for each BlueWorx profile known to be affected (or all if in doubt):

/SOLTIUS/PM_PROFILE_RF_MD

BlueWorx Event QueueTo optimize the processing of PM master data change events (FL and Equipment updates for example), BlueWorx makes use of standard SAP Change Event functionality to process the updates in the BlueWorx tables in real-time.

Customers with heavy and constant master data changes can set to ON so that the SAP event queue is not used to fully process updates but rather to update a BlueWorx event table for subsequent processing using an SAP scheduled job.

If you elect to turn this switch ON then your SAP administrator must periodically schedule a job [ SAP transaction SM36] to run against the SAP program:

/SOLTIUS/PM_EVTQ_PROCESS

The impact of electing to do this means that changes made from BlueWorx to SAP will likely not be returned back to the device in the initiating sync. Instead, they will return, if appropriate, after your scheduled tasks have run.

Order Change Sync Prompt
Order Change Sync PromptUse this setting to periodically check the SAP system for changes to Orders applicable to the User and to prompt them to Sync when changes are found.

Switch ON activate.

Also used in conjunction with the Delta Sync to Background settings which, where enabled and conditions are met, will silently process Syncs. See 'On Order Change Sync Prompt' setting in next section for related config
ON
Order Change Sync TimerPeriod (in mins) to check if Order Change Sync Prompt is activeSuggest 15
Use Mobile Network Set ON to trigger Order Sync Prompt when using a mobile connectionON
Delta Sync to Background
AllowIf activated this will trigger a background sync. Because it's silent when it triggers there's nothing to see but a spinning sync Icon. It will only occur when:
  • The User in their BlueWorx User settings has the Background Delta Sync switch ON
  • The Order Change Sync Prompt setting is ON
  • The BlueWorx Mobile Application is the active application on a mobile device
  • The User is not in a detailed screen (i.e. it will occur when they are in a menu or list screen).
ON
On Order Change Sync Prompt

If the setting 'Order Change Sync Prompt is ON (see the previous section), then when an Order change is detected, do a background delta sync, rather than prompting the user.
ON
Periodic since last sync (min)
Specify how many mins since last sync to check
Suggest 60.
Setting to 0 disables periodic sync.
Don't send outbox records
Set ON to only receive updates and not send information in your Outbox.

If ON users must manually sync to send items from their Outbox.

Allow on mobile network
If Set ON then allow the automated syncs to occur on cell connections, otherwise only on WiFi

Work Order/Notification sync settings
Disable online status syncThis is a global config option which if set ON ensures that changes to Order and Operations Statuses are always sent to the Outbox for sync with SAP and are not sent in real time when online. This can be used to ensure that changes to statuses do not lock other SAP updates prematurely.
