Geo Capture Example - Asset Annotation

Annotations are specific to a Functional Location or Equipment. They allow you to capture spatial information of interest to an asset.

In this example we show how we can add spatial annotations to our Functional Location or Equipment to enhance what we know about it and help us manage it.  The scenario is a Track against which we want to record landslides or slips so we can monitor erosion. The same scenario can apply to other linear assets like Railway Tracks or Roads, or to a factory location to show various plant sections spatially

Administration

Set Up the Layer

In BlueWorx Administration application we create a new layer type. We:

  • Give it an ID and Description
  • Assign it the Function of Annotation (see above for other options)
  • Assign it the Feature Type of Polygon (see above for other options)
  • Set it to be visible on the map from zoom levels 11 down to 23
  • Assign it to the appropriate Object Types
  • Leave Value Based Rendering Off
  • We leave No Stroke Off (On means we have a fill color but no border color)
  • We provide the Border and Fill Colors and the Opacity of 0.3 - where 0.1 means all not seen and 1 means solid

Add a Property for the Operator to estimate the age:

Operational Use

Using it for a Functional Location

In BlueWorx we can see the FL record with a Location and two Annotations:

The 'Slip' sections to Functional Location for display on our map:
